Founded in 1971 and headquartered in New York, AST provides clients with customized solutions to fit their specific needs along with access to the best systems, services, processes and products available today—around the globe.
AST is privately owned by Pacific Equity Partners (“PEP”), a large private equity firm based in Australia. PEP’s resources have allowed AST to expand its already robust technology platform and operating systems, while incorporating the best-in-class performance metrics of Link Market Services, a leading international shareholder services company also owned by PEP.
Quality is of the utmost importance to the AST team. It is this focus on customer service and client needs that has attributed to AST’s rating as the top transfer agent in overall client satisfaction for 11 consecutive years, in the independent survey conducted by Group Five, Inc. In 2009, AST scored an overall 96% rating which is 12 points higher than the industry average of 84%. AST’s highest ratings were in major categories including account manager responsiveness and accessibility, data protection and security, dividend processing, proxy tabulation and annual report and proxy distribution.
As part of its commitment to the business, AST participates in the leading industry associations and attends several events throughout the year, including the annual conferences of the National Investor Relations Institute (“NIRI”), the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals, the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (“NASPP”), Shareholder Services Association (“SSA”) and the National Investment Company Service Association (“NICSA”). AST’s President currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Stock Transfer Association (STA) and management has representation on several industry working committees.
